Rides for Retirees: New Class of Car Identified as LSVs Slashes Transportation Cost for Seniors

Augusta, GA (PRWEB) June 28, 2013

Theres no free of charge ride, even soon after retirement.

&#13

According to the Federal Highway Administration, transportation is the second biggest expense for most households, coming in at about 25 %. Even though this is usually reduce for retirees, transportation nevertheless takes a huge bite out of their spending budget.

&#13

But Mary A. Sicard, advertising manager at Club Auto, shares some price-cutting info.

&#13

A new class of street-legal, zero-emissions automobiles recognized as Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs) or Low Speed Vehicles (LSVs) can reduce that down to size, Sicard says.

&#13

This consists of the Club Car Villager LSV. These entertaining, sporty vehicles are helping seniors around the nation steer clear of sticker shock at the dealer, drive proper by gas stations, and slash insurance and maintenance costs.

&#13

Go Green and Save Green

&#13

The price savings are important. In the United States, Villager LSVs cost about half as considerably to operate as gas-powered automobiles. And they can be charged through a normal 110-volt outlet, so customers dont have to spend $ 300 – $ 1,500 to install a 220-volt outlet as they would to juice an electric vehicle. A six-hour charge takes the car 30 miles.

&#13

The Villager LSV also shrinks the owners carbon footprint since they are emissions-free. Conventional cars, on the other hand, create about 20 pounds of carbon dioxide for every single gallon of gas burned, for an annual typical of six tons of carbon dioxide per vehicle.

&#13

A lot of retired couples can replace at least one gas-guzzler with a Villager LSV, Sicard says.

&#13

LSVs vs. Golf Vehicle

&#13

Whilst golf cars also make very good neighborhood transportation, LSV are usually a a lot more sensible option simply because they are legal in most states on roads with speed limits of 35 mph or much less. They travel at between 20-25 mph.

&#13

Unlike individual golf cars, or golf vehicles utilized for off-course transportation, LSVs and NEVs are classified as motor cars and regulated by the National Highway Transportation Security Association. They should have car identification numbers and be registered and insured. The Villager LSV is also equipped with windshields, turn signals, head and tail lights, seat belts and other safety gear.

&#13

The Entertaining Element

&#13

Stuffy gas guzzlers isolate men and women from 1 another and the excellent outdoors. Villager LSVs, on the other hand, are open to sights, scents and sounds. Obtainable in two and 4-passenger models, these little, nimble cars foster social interaction and integrate shopping and dining into the fabric of your life. And theyre silent. No revving engines or backfiring.

&#13

Residents of retirement, gated, urban and rural communities are using these automobiles for neighborhood transportation, purchasing, operating errands, going out to dinner, taking the grandkids to college, zipping to the gym or just cruising.

&#13

Obviously, you cant drive a Villager LSV down I-95 or on a cross-nation road trip, but you can use it for hundreds of short trips each and every year. And, with far more than 75 percent of all American vehicle trips coming in at 10 miles or much less, these jaunts add up speedily, Sicard says.

&#13

Stop by your Authorized Club Auto Dealer and test drive a Villager LSV nowadays. To uncover a dealer near you, visit http://www.clubcar.com and select dealer locator.

Two Social Security Reforms That Seniors Strongly Support

Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) June 17, 2013

Seniors are closely following the debate more than Social Security, and a new survey indicates powerful assistance for two main alterations that could restore Social Securitys extended-term solvency. The survey, performed by The Senior Citizens League (TSCL), 1 of the nation’s largest nonpartisan seniors groups, identified that 52% of seniors strongly favor, and another 30% somewhat favor, raising the Social Safety maximum taxable wage base. In addition, 87% help banning the use of earnings from jobs worked beneath invalid and fraudulent Social Safety numbers by unauthorized immigrant workers to figure out entitlement to Social Security and other federal advantages.

&#13

Why raise the maximum? In 1993 the taxable maximum was eliminated for Medicare payroll taxes. But at the moment, workers who earn a lot more than $ 113,700 pay no Social Safety taxes at all on earnings more than that amount. That includes each Member of Congress and President Obama, notes TSCL Chairman Larry Hyland. The tax max increases annually by the growth in national average wages.

&#13

Low and middle-income earners pay taxes on all of their earnings. In current years, nonetheless, the share of total wages earned in the U.S. and subject to Social Security payroll tax has declined due to the fact the earnings of the most highly paid workers have grown quickly. Most of the proposals to improve the taxable maximum would also raise benefits of the affected workers by counting earnings above the old cap in the benefit formula. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has estimated that eliminating the taxable maximum would extend the Social Safety solvency as considerably as 50 years.

&#13

Why ban the use of earnings from unauthorized perform to figure out Social Safety benefits? Under present law Social Safety utilizes all earnings to calculate Social Security advantages. That signifies earnings of unauthorized immigrants from jobs worked beneath invalid and fraudulent Social Security numbers (SSN) can be employed both to qualify for rewards and for the calculation of the initial retirement benefit. There is no official published information on the amount of wages on file attributable to aliens operating without authorization, but the Social Safety Administration maintains an earnings suspense file that represents an estimated $ 763.5 billion in wages from 2000 by means of 2010 , most of it believed to be attributable to illegal workers. Beneath immigration reform, that could mean a massive new liability for Social Safety in the future, triggering far more rounds of cuts and greater taxes.

&#13

TSCL strongly believes that earnings under invalid SSNs should be also be invalid for entitlement to positive aspects, says Hyland. Document fraud, identity theft and violation of immigration law should not be rewarded with Social Safety advantages, specially as Congress considers cutting Social Safety expense-of-living adjustments (COLAs), he states.

Brookstone Law, PCs Emergency Extension Department Discovers Hidden Home Sale Date, Earns Unique Federal TRO for Local Seniors

Newport Beach, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) March 31, 2011

Thanks to Brookstone Law, PCs Emergency Extension Department (EED), a new resource to help homeowners facing foreclosure keep their homes, two local seniors have kept their home despite their Banks attempts to hide the sale date from them, it was announced today by Vito Torchia, Jr., managing attorney of Brookstone Law, PC.

According to court documents, Bob and Angela Sacchi, a married couple in their 80s living on a fixed pension income and savings in West Hollywood, CA, were facing foreclosure, the sale of their home and eventual eviction based on a predatory home loan they obtained in 2004 and the banks refusal to allow them to modify their mortgage despite numerous attempts to fix their problems over the past several years. The case is Sacchi, vs. MERS et al., Case No. CV 11-01658 pending in the United States District Court – Central District of California.

After initially stopping the sale of their home the day before it was scheduled to be sold, Brookstone Law continued to represent the couple. Unbeknownst to either the Sacchis or Brookstone Law, a new sale date was scheduled by the Bank. Only through Brookstone Laws attention to detail and frequent follow up did the EED team discover the Bank had scheduled a new sale date.

When our EED team helps achieve a postponement, we always look for the opportunity to pursue additional actions to extend postponements or achieve cancellations, said Aalok Sikand, one of the lead attorneys on the EED team. We learned through our hard work and research that the Bank had set a new sale date and were not surprised to discover they had not communicated that to the Sacchis.

Brookstone immediately prepared and filed an ex parte motion for a temporary restraining order and for an order setting a hearing date for a preliminary injunction against certain of the foreclosing defendants. According to court documents, the motion was based on alleged violations of California foreclosure statutes and on a securitization audit and accompanying affidavit calling into question the authority of the foreclosing party to actually foreclose. The Court issued the temporary restraining order, restraining all defendants from foreclosing on the Sacchis home pending a hearing on the preliminary injunction. The Court will set a briefing schedule.

Thanks to Brookstone Laws EED we have a sense of security about our future, said Mr. Sacchi, a member of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Radio and Television Artists who starred in the film “The Man Who Stole Bogart’s Face” and has appeared in numerous popular television series including “Kojak” and “Fantasy Island.” Brookstone Law said they would fight for us in court and they did just that.

Like many homeowners, the couple had heard stories about how homeowners facing foreclosure are treated by banks and how many banks do not allow short sales to address foreclosures. Media reports have highlighted banks mishandling of mortgage foreclosures and mistreating consumers, practices which have led to legal action throughout the country including suits filed by more than 40 state attorneys general against banks and lenders. Media coverage has shown banks throwing peoples belongings into the street in wrongful evictions, overcharging thousands of members of the military on their mortgages and bank executives admitting to blatant misadministration of loan documents in wrongful foreclosure trials.

Facing immediate foreclosure, without opportunity for a loan modification, living on a fixed low income and with nowhere to go if their home was sold, there seemed to be no way for the couple to stop their initial foreclosure until they contacted the EED specialists at Brookstone Law. EEDs team of legal experts and specialists acted decisively and fought for the couple in court by filing a lawsuit that resulted in a postponement of the first sale date.

This is another example of how we will not stop working until we achieve the results our clients need, said Nisha S., a seasoned EED specialist. Without dedicated attorneys and specialists working on their behalf, the Sacchis would not have known about the difficult situation the bank put them in before it was too late for them to act to save their home.

At a time when millions of Americans are losing their homes as part of the foreclosure crisis, homeowners face a daunting challenge when dealing with banks. To deal with those challenges, many homeowners have turned to the EED help them keep their homes. Created by Brookstone Law to help consumers deal directly with an institutional bureaucracy that is biased against them, the EED is a unique service not offered by any other firm that gives homeowners facing foreclosure a fighting chance to keep their homes.
