About the Author
John Halajian, an engineer who pioneered the scientific exploration of the moon, and an specialist student of Armenian sacred architecture was born in Beirut, Lebanon, on January 1, 1926. He spent his early years in Damascus, Syria, exactly where he completed his main and secondary education in the French Jesuit College. Following acquiring his French baccalaureate, he received his bachelors degree in civil engineering and architecture at the American University of Beirut. He pursued a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialty in soil mechanics, at Harvard University. Shortly soon after graduating, he got married and was blessed with 4 daughters.

He was employed at Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage, Long Island, and was recruited to supply his expertise in soil mechanics for the purpose of building a proposal for NASA regarding the manned lunar landing mission.
