Asha McAdory Awarded Fellowship from NBCC and Affiliates

The NBCC Foundation, an affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), lately selected Asha D. McAdory of Hoover, Alabama, for the National Board for Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Plan (NBCC MFP). As an NBCC MFP Fellow, Ms. McAdory will obtain funding and training to assistance her education and facilitate her service to underserved minority populations.

The NBCC MFP is made feasible by a grant awarded to NBCC by the Substance Abuse and Mental Overall health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in August 2012. The Foundation is contracted by NBCC to administer the NBCC MFP, as effectively as coaching and collaboration activities that will be open to all National Certified Counselors. The goal of the program is to strengthen the infrastructure that engages diverse individuals in counseling and increases the number of expert counselors delivering efficient, culturally competent services to underserved populations.

The NBCC MFP has distributed $ 20,000 education awards to Ms. McAdory and the 23 other doctoral-level counseling students chosen to acquire the fellowship award. Asha McAdory is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is at the moment pursuing a doctoral degree in counselor education and supervision at Auburn University. Ms. McAdory is the 2012 recipient of the Alabama Counseling Associations Miles-Seymour Award for outstanding doctoral students.
